I’m a new member. What’s next?

  • Now that you are a member of Howard Park Tennis Club, drop by the clubhouse on Opening Day to help launch the season!
  • Please download and review the Club Etiquette PDF document: Club Etiquette
  • Familiarize yourself with the rules of the Club outlined on the Rules page of this site
  • Tag-up for court time at the Court Managers’ Office
  • Check out the helpful tips below for both beginner and experienced new members

Tips for Beginners:

  1. Sign up for a Group Lesson
  2. To supplement your lessons, sign up for “Time to Play,” which takes place each Saturday morning
  3. Come out to the invitationals
  4. Get in some court time
  5. Join the Ladder
  6. Sign up for the Year-End Tournament
  7. Participate in the round robin socials
  8. Check out the “Looking for a Partner List” in the clubhouse

Tips for the Experienced New Member:

  1. Join the Ladder; it’s the best way to play competitive singles at the Club
  2. Join a House League (3.0 USTA rating and lower OR 3.5 USTA rating and higher)
  3. Take lessons. Group Lessons are the best way to learn how to play or simply improve your technique. They are also a great way to meet other members at your level of play.
  4. Enter the various tournaments and invitationals
  5. Participate in the round robin social events
  6. Check out the “Looking for a Partner List” in the clubhouse
